Anton Rinke (1843-1864) Anton Rinke was born in Mengerade, Prussia on January 14, 1843. He emigrated to America and resided in Mount Pleasant, Racine County, Wisconsin.
He enlisted as a private on 17 August 1862 in Company C, 26th Infantry Regiment Wisconsin (Milwaukee Guards).
He was engagedin the battles of Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, Wauhatchee, Mission Ridge, and Resaca. At this last, Resaca, on May 15, 1864 he was wounded and died of his wounds in field hospital on June 2nd, 1864 at Chattanooga, Tennessee, and is buried in the National Cemetery there, in Section K, grave 166.
